Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Pizzofalcone
Frescoes, stuccoes and wooden choir.
Set upon the hill of Pizzofalcone, the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli is one of the highest expressions of the Neapolitan Baroque, custodian of frescoes, stuccoes and wooden furnishings of great value.
The vibrations of the works on the hill and the wear of time have caused damage to stuccoes and frescoes. Friends of Naples has intervened with the emergency securing of the frescoes of the transept and of the wooden choir, and with a fundraising campaign, still open, for the restoration of the chapels.
