Basilica of San Giacomo degli Spagnoli

Basilica of San Giacomo degli Spagnoli
16th–18th century

The basilica within the City Hall.

The church of San Giacomo degli Spagnoli lies hidden within Palazzo San Giacomo, seat of the Comune di Napoli, and preserves one of the most important monumental complexes of sixteenth-century Naples.

Here Friends of Naples has promoted a wide-ranging programme of restorations: the entrance gate and wooden doorway, the wooden trusses of the roof, the bas-relief of the Madonna with Child and souls in Purgatory, the grand funerary monument of Don Pedro de Toledo and the other monuments of the apse.
