The monuments of the apse.

Consolidation, cleaning and restoration of the funerary monuments in the apse of the Basilica of San Giacomo degli Spagnoli.

These fine works form the backdrop to the more majestic funerary monument of Don Pedro de Toledo, but they are equally remarkable.

In particular, the funerary monument to Don Pedro Mayorga (1609), by Girolamo d'Auria and his workshop; surmounted by an aedicule in splendid polychrome marbles, in which stands the statue of Saint Peter with the keys.

At its sides stand the funerary monument of Captain Alfonso Basurto and that of Captain Hans Walter von Hiernhaim, realised by Annibale Caccavello and Giovan Domenico D'Auria in the mid-sixteenth century.
